CONCEPT DESIGN
BAAN Ekkamai Design Project, owned by Khun Weeraya, this renovation project was initiated by the client to make their home more livable and better suited for comprehensive family use. With the family business operating in the same area as the residence, disorder could easily occur. As a result, the homeowner initiated a renovation to better organize the space and adapt the house’s functions to align more closely with the family's lifestyle.
The homeowner envisioned a house that felt warm and well-organized, with a clear layout and balanced proportions. They also gave the designer creative freedom to express their ideas. Inspired by this, the designer based the concept on the Danish word 'Hygge' (pronounced HUE-GUH). Hygge refers to a sense of comfort and coziness that stems from one’s surroundings—bringing about physical and mental relaxation—and the warmth of being close to family and friends. The closest English translation is 'cozy,' evoking a heartfelt sense of warmth and contentment.
The designers selected warm, understated tones, accented with gold to elevate the atmosphere and add a touch of luxury. The second to fourth floors were thoughtfully arranged to cover all essential functions, while the work area on the first floor was redesigned for improved organization. A key aspect of this project is that, upon finishing work and stepping into the home, each family member can immediately feel the calming atmosphere and the warmth that radiates throughout every part of the house.
